NorthStar Digital Literacy Tue In-Person/Thu Open Lab W24

Northstar Digital Literacy defines basic skills needed to perform tasks on computers and online. Online, self-guided modules assess the ability of individuals to perform tasks based on these skills.
Included are basic computer digital literacy standards and modules in three main areas:
Essential Computer Skills - Basic Computer Skills, Internet Basics, Using Email, Windows OS, Mac OS
Essential Software Skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs
Using Technology in Daily Life - Social Media, Information Literacy, Career Search Skills, Accessing Telehealth Appointments, Supporting K-12 Distance Learning, Your Digital Footprint

RISE UP Retail Industry Fundamentals W24

The NRF Foundation credential can be earned in four areas: Retail Industry Fundamentals, Customer Service and Sales, Business of Retail: Operations and profits, and Warehouse Inventory and Logistics. Discover the value of quality customer service. Learn to improve your knowledge of different types of customers’ needs - master effective communication skills. Design a sales plan and apply effective upselling strategies. Acquire advanced retail skills.
These courses are offered as Self-Paced Online Modules, earning credentials after completion. Customer Service and Sales and Business of Retail: Operations & Profits have final proctored exams for completion.

Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs Volunteer Training W24

This is a five-week course that will provide participants, 16 years and older, with the tools and understanding needed to lead small groups of participants through a day of open-water fishing adventure. We will explore the principles of the Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs campaign and use our knowledge to offer a day of open-water fishing. This course is geared to pair mentors with youth to promote spring and summer, outdoor education and develop a love for life-long learning.
INFORMATIONAL DATE: April 4 from 1:00-3:00 pm.
4 weeks of class held Thursdays, from 6:30-8P
April 25, May 2, May 9, NO May 16, May 23
Practical Assessment on Friday, May 24 from 1-430P at BiCentennial Nature Park, Rte 3, Augusta.
This course will be taught by Kelli M Gilzow Stowell, our certified Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs Instructor, Certified Educational Trip Leader for Augusta Adult and Community Education AACE Program Coordinator, Augusta Parks and Recreation Outdoor Educator, and Certified American Red Cross Instructor.

CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Education Program June SS1-24
with Maine Veterans Home
Maine Veterans' Home, in collaboration with Augusta Adult and Community Education and the Maine Community College System, is offering a FREE, state-approved CNA training program.
CNAs are caregivers who work directly with patients and residents to assist them with their activities of daily living, including their safety and comfort.
This course will be hosted by Maine Veterans’ Homes in Augusta at their new state-of-the-art facility located at 35 Heroes Way Augusta Maine. Join us for this exciting opportunity to learn the art of caregiving in a holistic healthcare model and give back to our Honored Veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star family members.
