The course includes an introduction to electronic spreadsheets and how they are used; the difference between text, numbers, and calculating in Excel; creating and using formulas; right and wrong ways to enter a formula (and why); copying and pasting; drag-and-drop editing; formatting; printing; working with columns and rows; absolute references; and an introduction to charts. The intermediate portion of this course goes into a more advanced use of spreadsheet skills. It includes an intermediate level of formulas and functions; charting; using databases; working with multiple worksheets and workbooks; using HTML files; range names; labels in formulas; drawing objects and auto-shapes; PivotTables; using forms; importing data; and creating macros. This course may be used toward the Office Skills Certificate Program. Students must be experienced computer users with skills in keyboarding, navigating around files and folders, and basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word.

Students will be introduced to the skills necessary to succeed as office workers such as effective communications skills, human resources issues, general office procedures and the usage of a variety of office machines.
