CHESS - THE ROYAL GAME

$50

with Ted Elliott

Calendar Oct 24, 2017 at 6 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Chess goes back 1,400 years and is the greatest of all board games. If you don't know the rules or are intermediate, you'll enjoy this class and discover another way of passing the time during the long Maine winter. I'll discuss the rules and then we'll look at some opening systems and how to read and write two commonly used notations using a wall demo-board. I'll coach or play, depending on the size of the class. Come play the favorite game of Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. I have tournament-sized sets for use in the classroom.
