This course will help students gain a level of mathematical knowledge to take the Accuplacer exam and place out of non-credit mathematics courses in college. The course is also designed to reinforce mathematical skills and gain new skills to progress through a college algebra class easier. Learn number skills as never before as we go through puzzles and strategic events such as code breaking and puzzle solving using the skills in this course. No longer is math just answering problems from a textbook, it now is an adventure.

We will cover the following subject areas: Basic Math Skills, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Basic Geometry. We will also attempt to push a little beyond Algebra to give further skills. Focuses: Fractions and the reason behind how they operate, Rational Numbers and the ability to switch between forms, Irrational Square roots and Pi, Graphs and how function behave, Charts in how they are read as well as manipulated, word problem format. We will also cover when to use the calculator and when we don’t need to use the calculator.


This class is in person, as well as options for online tutoring sessions.
