Children's behavioral health services are vital to Maine's children with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health disorders and their families. And the need in our area is great!

As an integral part of the child's treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential.

Training Components will be for Home and Community Based, section 65. If you are looking to be in a school setting, an Ed Tech Certification 3 is required. 

Prerequisites:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency1
  • 8+ Years Old, at time of completion
  • CASAS Reading & Comprehension Assessment* provided by Augusta Adult and Community Education

Fun fact: This is the only training provider designated through DHHS to offer the certification in Maine. You will need to pass a background check, but that is completed after the completion of the training, as part of your application during the hiring process.

Maine Veterans' Home, in collaboration with Augusta Adult and Community Education and the Maine Community College System, is offering a FREE, state-approved CNA training program.

CNAs are caregivers who work directly with patients and residents to assist them with their activities of daily living, including their safety and comfort.

This course will be hosted by Maine Veterans’ Homes in Augusta at their new state-of-the-art facility located at 35 Heroes Way Augusta Maine. Join us for this exciting opportunity to learn the art of caregiving in a holistic healthcare model and give back to our Honored Veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star family members.

Program Highlights:

• FREE Tuition through the Maine Community College System

Career Exploration SS2-24

We have a great summer career exploration opportunity in collaboration with Augusta Child Care and Augusta Parks and Recreation. Specifically targeting students aged 16-24 years old, for summer session 2 – July 8 – August 16th!

Exploration Opportunities in After-School Child Care and Early Childhood Education, conducting an immersive experience in leadership development as a mentor. Students will be using Outdoor Education as the catalyst for learning. This will include Hiking, Gardening, Geocache, Disc Golf, and all things Summer!

Career Exploration Students will work with Youth Leadership Coordinator, Alisha Targonski from the UMaine 4H Cooperative Extension on safety protocol, classroom management, and required MRTQ modules. 

Once completed, students are immersed in a summer camp mentorship portion of the exploration, as they will be paired up with 3rd through 10th graders, engaging in Outdoor Education, large group work, small group projects, and reflection.

At the end of the seven weeks, students can choose to submit a Portfolio Request, which could earn up to one high school elective credit or community service hours.
